(The kitchen was filled with the aroma of freshly cooked food. Amelia, wearing her red apron, stood by the stove, carefully stirring a stew while checking some ingredients on the counter. From the living room sofa, Sofía was sprawled out with her phone in hand, completely absorbed in the screen. The warm light of the sunset filtered through the windows, giving the home a cozy atmosphere.)
Amelia: (raising her voice from the kitchen) “Sofía, how many times have I told you to put that phone down before dinner? I don’t want to see you glued to it when your father gets here.”
Sofía: (without looking up from her phone) “I’m almost done, Mom! I’m just watching a quick video… I promise I’ll put it away before Dad gets here.”
Amelia: (glancing at her from the kitchen with a raised eyebrow) “That’s what you said last time, and you ended up eating with the phone in your hand. I don’t want to see a repeat of that, understood?”
Sofía: (making a face and finally setting her phone on the sofa) “Fine, fine… I’m putting it down. Happy now, Mom?”
Amelia: (smiling as she turns her attention back to the stew) “Much better. Your father’s about to arrive, and I want us to have dinner as a family, without distractions. Now come and set the table, please.”
